At the Synergetic Adaptive Machinas (SAM) Lab we are developing robot swarms that can reconfigure, move together, and manipulate their surroundings. We envision robot swarms becoming such an integral part of our daily lives that we fail to distinguish between inanimate objects and robot swarms, between medicine and robot swarms, between smart materials and robot swarms. This is a grand vision that we are chipping away at by tackling hard problems related to design, fabrication, and control in the micron scale and macro scale arenas.

We will be starting up the SAM Lab in the Robotics Department at the University of Michigan in January 2025!
